A rope is lowered to him
(all demolished in 2004) to support workers at the nearby military radar base that operated in the 1950s and 1960s. Only paved streets and roads remained, upon which an artificial city was built. When Boyd enters the distant tree, he finds himself at the bottom of a pit. When Boyd emerges from the pit, Martin is the only person in the room and he is chained to the wall.
Martin didn't let go of the rope
He appears in Half in the Bag: 2022 Mid-Year Catch-Up Part 1 (TV Shows) (2022). Que Sera, Sera (What Will Be, Will Be) Written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans Performed by The Pixies. I'm loving this show so far and the acting and mysteries etc are definitely great. However, I'm starting to get a little worried that this is heading towards a "Lost" kind of atmosphere.
It’s never mentioned again or explained in any way, ever
While Lost was also a fantastic show in terms of acting, directing, etc, what really bothered me by the end was how much mystery there was just for the sake of being mysterious. While watching the second season, I was kind of annoyed every time another weird mystery came along, whether it was a symbol, an object, a thing, an event... mainly because I couldn't help but think, "Is this going to be important in the long run?" perspective? Is this just one of those cases where there's a mysterious mist creature or a hatch or light etc?
Because that kind of mystery writing ultimately annoys me, because the writer can reach up their ass and pull out absolutely anything and never come back to it
“Okay, and then a llama in a red hat appears whispering the words ‘paleontological’ and ‘spatula’!” and that’s it, forgotten after one season, no explanation, it was just weird there. I’ll keep watching it anyway, but if one day the series ends with “it was all in his head!” and there’s no attempt to tie it into some thematic logic, then this review should be reduced by at least 2 or 3 points…
